listening to Your Favorite Songs 2023, part 10 aka FINALE
(Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9) Oh my goodness, this series is at last coming to an end. I listened to 6 hours and 30 minutes of music, and wrote almost 14,000 words about it. Through this

We're doing it again. By we I mean me. This series has brought me so much good music, much of which I missed during the year, because holy good goddamn there's so much music being released. That's right, music is not dead. It is aliiiive. For each garbage patch of AI-generated sonic nonsense floating out there, there are so many more raw, real, weird, cool songs made by special people all over the world. And it is my privilege to listen to them. Oh what a joy it is to LISTEN.

Here is an example of how powerful this end of year vibe is—I think in 2023 someone told me their favorite song was "The Trench Coat Museum" by Yard Act. In 2024 I went to see Yard Act play. And this year I interviewed Yard Act for ANTICS Magazine. All because someone took the time to tell me they liked the song.

I want to know about your singular favorite song released in 2026. And the only difference from last year's rules and regulations is you HAVE to tell me why you like it. Doesn't have to be a long "why." Just a sentence or even a phrase will do. Last year I think someone said "because it slaps" as their reason. But I do need something to bounce off of. Everyone is a blogger, after all, even if you don't think you are.
