here's a song that reminds me of you, available exclusively at Target on Tangerine vinyl

After attending the Eras Tour and seeing the Taylor Swift of it all up close, I do understand why people devote so much energy to loving and overanalyzing the most millennial of American pop stars. But I am starting to think the business side of her brand is more interesting than the music.

Taylor posted on social media about a bonus song she included in her "Taylor's Version" re-release of 1989. The song is called "Sweeter Than Fiction (My Version)" and she says it reminds her of her friend Jack. Jack, of course, is the music producer Jack Antonoff, who I have seen grace a stage twice (once performing with his band Bleachers at Coachella, the other time chewing gum and being weird with Lorde at Barclays Center). Taylor posted a suite of photos that, based on her haircut, are from the original 1989 "era." At this time, she had what children would now call a "fuck ass bob," I think, if I understand that slang the way I think I do.

Okay, that's the preamble, here's the post:

"Sweeter Than Fiction (My Version)" is now available exclusively at Target on Tangerine vinyl πŸŠπŸ’™. And I can't stop thinking about it. I guess the main vinyl is blue? "Crystal Skies Blue." Named after the lyric in "Blank Space," no doubt. It also looks like a "Rose Garden Pink" vinyl was at one time available. But you cannot get "Sweeter Than Fiction (My Version)" on either of those colors of vinyl. Nor can you stream it. You can stream "Sweeter Than Fiction" but it is not Taylor's Version. It's from 2013 and apparently it was for a movie called One Chance, a movie I have never heard of, a 2013 British-American biographical film about opera singer and Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts.

"Sweeter Than Fiction (My Version)" is now available exclusively at Target on Tangerine vinyl πŸŠπŸ’™. You must go to Target or Target dot com and pay $39.99 for the Tangerine vinyl. And then you can hear a high fidelity rendition of "Sweeter Than Fiction (My Version)", a song that reminds Taylor of Jack Antonoff, as well it should, because they did write the song together. It's a Target exclusive. You've gotta give Target something to be exclusive about. Hence the bonus track.

"Sweeter Than Fiction (My Version)" is now available exclusively at Target on Tangerine vinyl πŸŠπŸ’™. But wait. Hold the phone. There are four non-Target-exclusive vinyl color variants. Someone bought them all and posted on Reddit. My goodness. But also none of these have "Sweeter Than Fiction (My Version)" on them. What a ripoff! Orange you glad you went to Target to get the Tangerine vinyl?

Taking a stroll around her website shop is a trip. She really went in on the seagull theme for this Version of 1989. It's funny to see a Welcome To New York poster covered in seagulls. It's like you moved to New York and immediately went to Brighton Beach and bought some french fries. Welcome To New York. The Seagulls Have Been Waiting For You To Drop A Fry.

Anyway the song is fine, someone ripped it to YouTube. The melody kind of sounds like "If You Leave" by OMD.
